History
The Chairman of the Board Ilpo Kokkila graduated 1975 from the Helsinki University of Technology and he has worked since in the construction industry. He worked for Perusyhtymä Ltd (nowadays YIT Plc) for 15 years and was the head of the operations in Finland and the Soviet Union.

SRV Group was founded in 1987 by a team of five led by Ilpo Kokkila. SRV introduced a new project management model to the Finnish, Baltic and Soviet construction market.

SRV started its hotel developments by establishing one of the first joint venture companies in the Soviet Union “Finest Hotel Group” in Estonia and purchased later the Hotel Viru in Tallinn, Estonia, in 1994, with its 16,600 m2 land plot.

Pontos Ltd was founded in 2001 by the owners of SRV to separate the passive real estate assets from SRV.

Viru Keskus shopping center was opened 1995 and it was enlarged in 2004 to its present form. The project was developed by SRV. The four-story center offers the widest selection of fashion in the city with over 100 different shops and services. Additionally, the complex includes a parking house and a public bus terminal. Viru Keskus is daily visited by 40 000 visitors and the annual turnover of the center exceeds 125 MEUR.

Kamppi shopping center opened in 2006. The project was developed by SRV. Pontos was the lead investor in the project vehicle, which was sold in 2006. SRV was listed in Helsinki Stock exchange in 2007.

Ilpo Kokkila acquired 100% ownership of Pontos in 2007. Pontos was operationally fully separated from SRV. Pontos expanded the business focus to cover also active private equity investments in non-listed companies in Finland, the Baltic States and Portugal.
